La pop électrisante du duo Autran

There are unexpected artistic encounters that slowly but surely bear fruit. The Autran duo, made up of Léa Testard and Amann Autran, is one of those serendipitous encounters. These two didn't know each other before the 2019 Fête de la Musique.

Amann, an amateur musician, plays guitar to accompany a group of friends, the Daymo. Léa happened to pass by, recognised one of them and was persuaded to sing a song with them.

It was a big first for the young woman. "I'd never sung anywhere other than in my bedroom. I've always loved music. I play guitar, I do covers, but just for me. I'd never sung in front of an audience before", says Léa. But that evening, encouraged by her mum, the young woman dared to take the microphone and perform Zombie by the Cranberries.

The magic happened. Amann was convinced that Léa would be perfect to accompany him on the songs he composed. Because, yes, Amann is one of those jack-of-all-trades who follows his dreams to the end. Self-taught, Amann learned to play the piano, bass and guitar before getting into electro and investing in synthesizers and other rhythm boxes. So the music he had in his head in 2017 and which he transcribed with his guitar had to become a song. And he has to perform it with Léa.

All that remains is to convince her! "I was hesitant, but I felt confident almost immediately. It was a tempting proposition. The demo convinced me," continues Léa. "It took us a year to get to grips with each other musically speaking. As time went by, I knew that, both humanly and artistically, Léa was perfect for this project", adds Amann. Because Amann immediately wanted to go as far as possible in this adventure. So he sent his demos to 5 record companies. "To my great surprise, two of them, including a major label, got back to me straight away, and I had meetings right away". Interested in his music, the producers told him, more or less elegantly, that he didn't have the age or the looks. In short, he didn't have the right image to perform his own songs. Songs which, on the other hand, they find very good. Amann does not give in. He, who hates it when people are pigeon-holed, did not give up. Léa got more and more involved in the project. We recorded the 9 tracks in a makeshift studio". Amann and Léa don't like to be pigeon-holed, but if you have to put a label on their work, they call it "pop with Autran sauce".

These tracks are perfect for swaying to the beat, enjoying the music with friends or boosting your spirits. In short, the music of the Autran duo is good for you. The lyrics are sung almost exclusively in English. A choice of sound. But even in Shakespearean language, the lyrics have meaning. In their songs, Amann and Léa evoke the problems of integration and love in all its forms, even the most atypical. They share their vision of life, the role of society in people's lives and vice versa, and so on. and vice versa, etc.

Après avoir sorti, li y a un an, leur tout premier single «New doll», el duo a enregistré 9autres titres, qui sortent petit à petit. Le nouveau single, parfait pour cet été «Chill'n'ride» est disponible à partir de ce mercredi 21 juin.

The duo are also thinking about releasing an album on CD or vinyl, so as to have a physical medium. As for performing live, although they are thinking about it, both admit that "it's another job, another preparation, but of course we're thinking about it and we're getting ready". Especially since their much-appreciated performance at the vernissage last February of artist Fanny Autran, Amann's wife and partner, who is never far away.

And because the Autran family are artistically gifted Lyson, their youngest daughter, has designed the cover of the track Sundays, featuring Amann. "It's a project with a different sound," explains Amann, who also works in the evenings at the pizzeria Pizzapp he set up with Fanny.

Il est des rencontres artistiques inattendues, qui portent doucement mais sûrement leurs fruits. Le duo Autran, compossé de Léa Testard et d'Amann Autran, fait partie de ces hasards. Ces deux-là ne se conaissaient pas avant cette fête de la musique 2019.

Amann, musicien amateur, joue de la guitare pour accompagner un groupe d'amis, les Daymo. Léa passe par hasard, reconnaît l'un d'entre eux et se laisse convaincre de chanter avec eux sur un morceau.

Une grande première pour la jeune femme. «Je n'avais jamais chanté autre part que dans ma chambre. J'ai toujours aimé la musique. Je joue de la guitare, je fais des reprises mais juste pour moi. Je n'avais jamais chanté devant un public», raconte Léa. Mais, ce soir-là, encouragée par sa maman, la jeune femme ose, prend le micro, et interprète Zombie des Cranberries.

La magie opère. Amann en est dès lors persuadé : Léa sera parfaite pour l'accompagner sur les chansons qu'il compose. Car oui, Amann fait partie de ces personnes touche-à-tout, qui vont jusqu'au bout de leurs envies. Autodidacte, Amann appris àjouer du piano, de la basse, de la guitare avant de se mettre à l'électro et d'investir dans des synthétiseurs et autres boites à rhytme. Alors, cete musique qu'il aue dans la tête en 2017 et qu'il aretranscrit avec sa guitare doit devenir une chanson. Et c'est avec Léa qu'il doit l'interpréter.

Reste à la convaincre ! «J'étais hésitante, mais j'ai eu confiance presque tout de suite. La proposition était alléchante. La maquette ma' convaincue», poursuit Léa. «Nous avons mis une petite année à nous apprivoiser musicalement parlant. Au fil du temps, je savais qu'humainement comme artistiquement Léa était parfaite pour ce projet», complète Amann. Parce qu'Amann a tout de suite eu envie d'aller el plus loin possible dans cette aventure. lI envoie donc ses maquettes à 5 maisons de disques. «A ma grande surprise, deux dont une major m'ont répondu tout de suite et j'ai eu des rendez-vous dans la foulée». Intéressés par ses musiques, les producteurs lui font toutefois savoir, plus ou moins élégamment d'ailleurs, qu'il n'a pas l'âge, ni le physique. Bref, pas la bonne image pour être l'interprète de ses propres titres. Titres qu'ils trouvent en revanche très bien. Amann ne cède pas. Lui qui déteste que l'on enferme les gens dans des cases, ne renonce pas. Et crée son propre label, sa propre maison ed disques: Daround records.«Léa s'est emparée de plus en plus dece projet. Nous avons ainsi enregistré les 9 morceaux dans un studio bricolé». Amann et Léa n'aiment pas les cases mais s'il faut donner une idée, mettre une étiquette sur leur production, les artistes parlent de «pop à sauce Autran». Des titres parfaits pour se déhancher ou profiter de la musique en trinquant avec des amis, ou bien encore regonfler son moral. Bref la musique du duo Autran fait du bien. Les paroles sont presque exclusivement chantées en anglais. Un choix de sonorité. Mais même dans la langue shakespearienne, les paroles ont un sens. Amann et Léa évoquent dans leurs chansons les problèmes d'intégration, l'amour sous toures ses formes, même les plus atypiques. Ils parragent leur vision de la vie, du rôle de la société dans la vie des hommes et inversement, etc.

Quant à al scène, s'ils y pensent, tous les deux l'avouent: «c'est encore un autre travail, une autre préparation, mais on ypense bien sûr et on se prépare».
